I am an educational leader and designer who has served in public and private schools in New York City, Florida and New Jersey.
I am a native New Yorker. I hold the B.A. from Florida Southern College, becoming the first person in my family to earn a college degree. I also hold the M.M.Ed from Florida State University.
My life calling is to equip and mobilize a new generation of mission ready leaders from all walks of life with the faith, fitness and fortitude to accomplish any mission anywhere. I am an ardent follower of Jesus Christ, and have devoted my life to applying the timeless truth, values, virtues and love revealed in the Bible in the real world.
I have been married to Alison Jakes Argersinger, past National President of Kappa Delta Sorority and professional educator, for over 40 years. We are blessed with four incredible adult children and a growing number of grandchildren. I enjoy travel, biking, hiking, survival training, outdoor exploration, practicing wilderness medicine, overseas mission work, composing and performing music, writing poetry, reading widely, and making memories with my family.
One of the most influential event in my life was the death of my father when I was 15, while I was unsuccessfully performing CPR on him. This trauma has proven to be a powerful incentive to face my own mortality and to learn, to grow and to maximize the time I’ve been given on this earth.
His passing forced me to lead at a young age, to stand up and answer the call to support my Mom and to carry the family banner forward. A year later I was introduced to Jesus Christ by a close friend, and I embraced the love and forgiveness that Jesus offered me. From that point on, through many ups and downs, I have imperfectly but faithfully pursued the mission he has given me.
Life continued to offer challenges.
In 2006, my wife was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and given 2 years to live. Many surgeries and dark times followed over the ensuing years, yet today, by the grace of God and gifted doctors, she is alive and well. I am so grateful. In 2014 both of my brothers died within 2 weeks of each other, one from bone cancer and the other from suicide. In 2019, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and went through surgery myself. Again, by God’s grace, I am cancer-free today.
Yet in all this, God was at work.
In 2022 I founded , Be Mission Ready, a coaching & training company specializing in helping regular people discover and pursue their mission, and to answer the call whenever it comes, whoever it leads and whatever it costs. Also in 2022 I founded and currently lead the Linked In professional group Mission Ready Leaders.
Through all of the ups and downs of life I’m still learning, still growing. I’ve made many mistakes, but I’m proving everyday that “smart” failure (learning and growing through failure) brings true success.
I am inspired every day to keep on pursuing my mission by the wonder of God’s love, truth and grace, my precious family, and a world that needs more great leaders.
Soli Deo Gloria.
